Grieg-French-Bell Grove - Humboldt Redwoods SP, CA

This was one of my favorite stops during our Redwoods road trip, because although the trees are not particularly thick or tall, the ground has the lushest covering of redwood sorrel - it looks straight out of a fairy tale!

The Grove

The turnout can be hard to spot on the north end of the Avenue of the Giants, as the only sign letting you know is the sign naming the grove, and parking is right along the side of the highway.

The sign you can easily miss when driving along the road

Once you park, there isn't much of a designated trail to follow as the grove is more of an area to explore. There are multiple paths forking through the grove, and it isn't long before the ground is covered in the sorrel.

So green!

The forest has such a different feel when the sun comes out!

This grove was unlike anything I saw on the rest of our redwood roadtrip, so if you are just passing by Humboldt Redwoods State Park, I would say this is a must stop on your way through the Avenue of Giants!
